Mapping project in Sarawak/Malaysia

The Bruno Manser Fund (BMF) is an environment and human rights organization located in Basel (Switzerland). We are committed to campaigning for the conservation of the threatened tropical rainforests with their biodiversity and strive for the respect of the rights of the rainforest dwellers in special in the malaysian federal state of Sarawak.

As a support for the project „community mapping“ in Sarawak the BMF is searching a volunteer.

The main tasks are the following:
-­‐ Drone overflights over Penan villages
-­‐ Drone overflights over timber concessions and plantations
-­‐ training and education of a local team

Our demands:
-­‐ Shortly before bachelor’s degree or already succesful bachelor’s degree
-­‐ Immersed knowledge in the field of geographical information system (GIS) / geodata
-­‐ Identification with the aims of the Bruno Manser Fund
-­‐ To be proactive, independent, good English-Skills
-­‐ Travel experience in south-east asia is of advantage

The Bruno Manser Fund is paying for:
-­‐ Travel costs (international flight, local transport costs)
-­‐ Accommodation, food and other charges linked to the project
-­‐ Lump sum for other charges

The mission should take place between september and december 2015 and will last 3 to 4 months.
